Some of the most sensitive and spiritual people find themselves struggling with the burden of addiction. At the heart of addiction is a disconnection from a Loving Higher Power that leaves us feeling spiritually and emotionally empty. In desperation, we may turn to people, substances, or unhealthy behaviors to fill the void.

Individuals who have experienced varying degrees of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, or spiritual abuse may suffer from chronic hopelessness, perfectionism, shame, fear, and low self-esteem. Religious people are not immuned to these problems. Even in the most well-intentioned families and well-intentioned religions, self worth may be based upon achieving a high standard of performance that supercedes a sustained, nurturing and supportive connection with a loving God. The feeling that we just can’t message up is a nagging, subconscious voice which leads to emotional distress and often, addiction.

12 Step Programs can help us reconnect to a true understanding of God’s nature. This humbling journey, with the support of fellow addicts, is the beginning of true health and wholeness for many who struggle with:

Online Meetings

Online meetings provide a safe and anonymous place to become truly honest with our Higher Power, ourselves, and others.  We have provided links to some 12 Step Fellowships that have online meetings. 

For the LDS Community, Heart t’ Heart 12 Step Recovery invites men and women struggling with all forms of addiction to join their online fellowship. The manual used in Heart t’ Heart is He Did Deliver Me from Bondage by Colleen Harrison.  This book is excellent for helping individuals recognize the false beliefs systems that keep us feeling connected to God.  It’s a great “mythbuster.”

First Steps

Guided Energy Healing Sessions compliment the benefits of 12 Step Programs.  With the help of Guided Energy Healing,  12 Step participants may clear generational patterns and relieve the anxiety that precedes the need to “use.” 

Often addicts will become free from one addictive substance or behavior, only to replace it with another addiction.  The adapted Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) used at The Light Point Healing Center is an amazing tool for dealing with cravings. This simple tool can be used anytime, anywhere as a compliment to the surrender emphasized in the First Steps.
