Room sprays can do more than just deordorize your room.  Essential oil room sprays not only offer an uplifting fragrance, they provide many other emotional and therapeutic benefits.  Here are of my most popular room spray recipes.  They are completely non-toxic and can be used to spray around your body as perfume, or to cleanse and protect your energy field.  I like to keep these by the front door or in my work space.  I spray them whenever I need a lift or when someone is coming and I want to set an inviting mood in the house.

Joyful Day Room Spray

In a 4 oz. spray bottle* of distilled water, add:

6 drops TRUessence Lemon essential oil
6 drops TRUessence Orange or Grapefruit essential oil

Shake gently before spraying.  This delightful spray really brings sunshine into your thoughts and emotions. It helps to disinfect the air as well.

TLC Spray

In a 4 oz. spray bottle* of distilled water, add:

12 drops TRUessence TLC Blend

Shake gently before spraying.
I have heard some great success stories with this spray.  It helps combat insomnia when sprayed  on your pillow and around your body at bedtime.  It helped a day care mom to calm herself and her children.  It has been used successfully to help ADHD children in classrooms.  It helps calm workplace stress.  This is an amazing, comforting blend.

Holiday Blessing Spray

In a 4 oz. spray bottle* of distilled water, add:

4 drops TRUessence Balsam Fir, 6 drops TRUessence Orange, and 2 drops TRUessence Cinnamon Bark.

Shake gently before spraying.  This is a rich spray that is not just great at holiday time.  It is very grounding and adds an energy of joy and prosperity all year around.

*Always use glass or PET plastic bottles.  Cobalt blue or amber brown bottles are preferrable to help prolong the freshness of essential oils.

Summer First Aid

My Essential Oil First Aid Kit has been so handy as I have traveled this summer. Whether I’m on a road trip or a picnic, I don’t want to go anywhere without my oils.  Here are some ideas and recipes for using TRUessence essential oils to support you in your summer activities, both work and play:

To assist with summer work projects:

TRUessence Cairo Care Blend-assists structural body memory and helps body to hold alignment when a person goes to the chiropractor.  Apply on shoulders, feet, back.  It sends our electrical energy through the body as we apply it on multiple places.  This oil prepares the body to benefit from other oils and interventions.

TRUessence Fysical Therapy Blend-is anti-pain, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, anti-hematoma.  Use it in company with Cairo Care. Great for bumps and bruises (much better than Neosporin.)

 For summer sun

Carrot Seed: Has some sunscreen properties and is also being studied as an anti-cancer oil.  Mix with Lavender and carrier oil to decrease harmful effects of the sun.  Gives your skin some sunscreen protection, but is not a sunblock.  Great for after swimming to keep skin from drying out.  Put 20 drops each of TRUessence Lavender and Carrot Seed in 4 oz. bottle of carrier oil, such as TRUessence Message Oil

Lavender: 20 drops of lavender and 1 oz. apple cider vinegar diluted in a 4 oz. bottle with distilled water can be sprayed on a burn.  You may increase the lavender on subsequent days as the burn heals.  You can also use the lavender and apple cider vinegar in a bath to cool a burn.

 Other first aid uses:

Geranium Oil:  great for cleaning out wounds and stopping bleeding.  To make a first kit, use cotton ball with geranium and apply pressure.  If its an open gash and you have to go to ER, use geranium to stop bleeding and then use Tea Tree  to disinfect. Use a butterfly bandage to close  up the wound until it can be sown together, if needed.  You can mix Tea Tree in a spray bottle (20 drops to 4 oz. distilled water).  These oils do sting slightly at first, but Tea Tree does have analgesic properties.

Insect repellect: Geranium, Peppermint, and Cedarwood all repel insects.  Put the oils on a cottonball or in a container of water and set on your table.  (Do not leave bottles open.)  You can spray peppermint on ant trails.  Cedarwood is also good for ants.  Put 12 to 20 drops in a 4 oz. mister bottle.  Motor homes attract mice.  Putting cotton balls with Peppermint under the sink where mice might come in and nest can help.

Peppermint and Lavender are great for summer headaches.  Make a peppermint halo: Dab peppermint on temples across forehead, behind ears across the back of the neck.  Even severe cases of migraine can be helped if caught at the first sign.

Mixing Lavender and Tea Tree is great to help with skin rashes from plants, etc. encountered during summer.  Use with Dead Sea Salt in a bath to relieve rashes too.

The puncture wounds of animal bites and insect bites need to be treated to avoid affection (including mosquitos). Mix up  30 drops Oregano and 30 drops Lavender in 10 mil bottle and fill with carrier oil.  This helps spider bites as well.

For cooling off from the sun:  Cool off with a glass of cool water with a drop of Peppermint.  Keep a 4 oz. mister bottle of distilled water and 20 drops of Lavender in the fridge and spray it on yourself when you come in from outdoors and are over-heated.  You can use Guardian or Tea Tree (20 drops to 4 oz. distilled water) and spray into stinky tennis shoes.

You can put First Aid Spray, Sunburn Spray, and other mixtures in small bottles for a First Aid Kit.  Include bandages, gauze strips, and butterfly bandages and put in a container.  Keep it out of the heat—keep out of hot car and keep in cooler.

These things are great to prevent needing to go to the doctor or as a preparation for when you are heading to the ER to reduce damage and initiate healing.

Final tip:  Don’t forget to take your essential oil Sanitizer Spray with you!  The recipe for this is: 10 drops tea tree, 10 drops Eucalyptus radiata, and 5 drops Peppermint OR 25 drop of TRUessence Guardian Blend in a 4 oz. mister bottle of distilled water.  I adapt this recipe to 1 or 2 oz. mister bottles that I can carry in my purse.  This is so handy for spraying hands before and after eating, public restrooms, and hotel room.

Hope you enjoy these natural and uplifting tips!

Spring and Summer have arrived!  The sun feels great and we are excited to be out working in the green grass and garden. But…along with the blooms comes allergy season.  We have discovered an awesome remedy for allergies.  We no longer need over-the-counter decongestants thanks to this effective and delightful essential oil remedy.

3 drops tea tree

3 drops lavender

2 drops cypress

1 drop peppermint (optional)

3 drops eucalyptus

2 drop lemon

2 drops rosemary

For adults: Mix with 1 oz. (2 T.) carrier oil.
For children ages 8 to 12: Mix with  2 oz. (1/4 c.) carrier oil
For children ages 3 to 8: Mix 10 drops of the Allergy /Cold remedy with 2 oz. carrier oil.
For children birth to age 2: Mix 5 drops of the Allergy/Cold remedy with 2 oz. carrier oil.
For elderly or individuals with fragile health, use child dosage recommendations.

This can be massaged on the chest (front and back), across the bridge of the nose, back of neck, and around the ears.  Use as often as needed to relieve congestion and enhance the functioning of the immune system.

You can also diffuse a few drops of the Allergy/Cold Remedy to relieve congestion.

Safety precautions:  Peppermint is not recommended for use  with children under 30 months.  Please keep all oils out of the reach of children.  Be sure to dilute this remedy for children as recommended. DO NOT apply it near the eyes. Avoid diffusing oils near pets, especially cats.

Allergies are good indicators that our bodies need detoxification.  We have found this cleanse to be invaluable during allergy season. Boost the effectiveness of the Allergy/Cold Remedy by using it with the Liver Cleanse:

Adult Liver Cleanse: 1 drop peppermint oil, 1 drop lemon oil, 1 T. lemon juice in 8 oz. glass of water–Stir and drink each morning.

Gentle Liver Cleanse: Blend 10 drops peppermint and 10 drop lemon in a 10 mil. bottle.  Shake well.  Use 1 drop of this blend in an 8 oz. glass of water each morning.

Safety note:  Liver cleanse is not recommended for individuals with high blood pressure or those who take Coumadin.  Be sure to consult your physician before making any changes to your health routine.

We advocate only TRUessence essentil oils for internal use and cannot recommend satisfactory results with any other brand.

After Shower Massage Blend for Women

I couldn’t resist sharing this wonderful massage oil that is part of my daily routine.  It is toning to skin, helps eliminate cellulite (no kidding), acts to reduce water retention, energizes, reduces food cravings, and supports hormone balance.  I truly love it!

Mix 12 drops each of fennel, orange, cypress, lemongrass with 4 oz. carrier oil (such as grapeseed oil).

You may personalize this blend by adding geranium, or coriander which are other emotionally supportive oils with estrogenic properties.  Geranium and cypress are both good for adrenal support. A rule of thumb for a massage oil is to have no more than 10 drops essential oils for each tablespoon of carrier oil.  So if you add additional oils, I recommend adding morecarrier oil.  I use TRUessence oils only and can’t promise you will get the same results with other brands.

Safety precautions:  Be aware that fennel is not recommended for use by pregnant women or individuals with seizure disorders.  Women who have breast cancer are also not advised to use oils with estrogenic properties.  Please keep essential oils out of the reach of children.

Remember to think positive, grateful thoughts about your body as you apply  this blend!  Enjoy!
