Reiki Hand Placement

          Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction that also promotes healing. “Rei” means “God’s Wisdom” and “ki” means “life force energy.”  At The Light Point Center, we use the Usui Method of Reiki, a simple, natural, and safe, technique.  During a Reiki session, the practitioner is trained to move energy through the client’s body, either by directly placing their hands in various non-invasive positions on the client’s body or by moving their hands over the client’s energy field without touching the body.  This is a  very comfortable experience that helps the client to feel a greater sense of well-being and relaxation.

           Dr. Usui taught that clients must take responsibility for their committment to healing.  He encouraged practitioners and clients to adopt guidelines for living a gracious life that are a timely reminder in our stressed-filled world:

Just for today, do not anger
Do not worry and be filled with gratitude
Devote yourself to your work.  Be knd to people.
Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.
Pray these words with your heart.
And chant these word with your mouth.

          The life force that flows  to give life to all living things (known to Christians as “the light of Christ”) is reponsive to thoughts and feelings.  It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts and feelings about ourselves.  This not only diminishes our mood and sense of self-worth, but additionally affects the vital function of the organs and tissues of the physical body.  Reiki assists the client by clearing, strengthening, and healing the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

          Reiki may be used as a stand-alone energy healing therapy or may be combined with other energy healing tools.  A typical Reiki session take about 30-40 minutes.
